Te Whare Mātoro: Haka fusion

June 18 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Te Whare Mātoro were iwi-community based ‘houses’ of entertainment for young people. They were the ‘night club’ of the pā (village). Here young men and women would participate in entertainment known by young people all over the world.

See passionate performances by rangatahi (young people) as they fuse elements of traditional kapa haka (action songs) with contemporary music, dance and theatre to create ‘Haka Fusion’.
